Dayna
Orione-Kim
Dayna
Orione-Kim has been residing in the Rochester NY area for the past 16 years
after growing up in Hawaii and Nova Scotia. Dayna holds a BFA and MFA from
The School for American Craft at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)
where she studied with Leonard Urso, Mark Stanitz and Juan Carlos
Caballero-Perez. While at RIT she also had the opportunity to teach
metalsmithing elective classes to undergraduates and graduates from other
fields. This experience was very important as she hopes to someday be a full
time metalsmithing professor.
The
majority of Dayna's work comments on the influence ceremony, ritual and
nature have on our lives. She has always been fascinated with these elements
as they are cross cultural and have influenced humanity past and present.
Dayna's creations include limited production jewelry as well as one of a
kind wearable sculpture pieces employing silver, gold, copper, semi-precious
stones and the occasional fiber. Her work has been in numerous national
exhibitions and has also been featured in three books about metalsmithing
and jewelry. |
