This delightful line of polymer clay and
mixed media pins and earrings in the forms of insects, dragonflies,
butterflies, frogs and lizards is designed by the artist, Joyce Fritz,
and produced in her Wisconsin studio with the aid of one or two assistants. Work is
made of polymer clay, recycled wire, colored wire, glass beads, metallic
leaf, and glitter. The artists incorporates the millefiori technique to
create patterns, as well as varied surface treatments.
"Yipes!"
designs are hand-made in polymer clay using millefiori, an
ancient technique, adapted to modern materials. Sheets and
coils of clay are stacked together and compressed into a loaf.
Cross-section slices of the loaf are used as design elements
along with metallic leaf, glitter, recycled wire and glass
beads.
